As a father of 2 young children and sole bread winner in the family, spending habits had to change if they were going to continue to live in the San Francisco Bay area, an area not known for its low cost of living. “While rent might be higher than other places, there are certain cost advantages of living in such a culturally and environmentally diverse place.” Nathan’s goal has now become to explore cost effective ways to simplify life, enjoy family and assest what is truely important.
Nathan McGee blogs about saving money throught cutting cost creatively. From cooking quick, great meals to finding free or low cost entertaimment, Nathan takes the stress out of trying to be financially concious.
WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT FROM THE FRUGAL GURUS?
I don’t clip coupons.
I don’t spend hours every day trying to squeeze every penny out of every purchase.
I don’t want to live on bare minimums.
While there are many who have impressed the media with their terrific feats of penny pinching, I’m not one of them. I value my time, I value a comfortable and enjoyable life. Many of those penny pinchers spend hours and hours of planning, prepping and purchasing to achieve what they do. While saving money is one of my goals (and a big one), it is not my only goal. I’m just an average guy, with an average family, living in challenging times.
These challenging times have caused me to really take a look into what I really value… family, faith, learning and life experiences. My quest for cost cutting can not take time away from what I truely value most. Time is the only thing we can’t stop spending, we can only choose what we spend it on.
